It’s clear to me that President Obama will never step down – then again, I don’t want him to.
Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has never been the same since his trip to Washington, D.C. as the Under Secretary of Transportation job possibility kinda just – vanished. Minneapolis Ward 5 City Councilman Don Samuels is a whole other issue, regardless on who and how many votes he got, if the election was held today, Ward 5 would have a different Councilperson. Rybak and Samuels have not given their constituents full disclosure including how much money the Minneapolis Department of Civil Rights is costing the city to settle or litigate sexual harassment proceedings for those inside of the MDCR. The new director, Vemla Korbel has an up hill battle, but first we need her to open up some past files and prove the MDCR is not headed in the same direction with its new hires.”

This email was sent to a long-time north Minneapolis resident and contributor to IBNN – Mr. Larry Tucker. He thought it would be good for people to read and understand what others are thinking. Below is the email from one of Mr. Tucker’s very good, White friends and Mr. Tuckers reply.
Larry,
I had to think for more than a minute on whether to send to you but have decided I wanted you to read my comments. If I can’t share this kind of thing with you then I’m in the closet (like the most of the rest of the country) and a chicken shit to boot. We kid each other a lot but I have much respect for your firsthand life and knowledge with the comments I made here. These comments are mine and mine alone but do reflect a much broader thought pattern, I believe, among our contempories. When, where and how do we open a debate?
Subject: Best quote of the year
If Newt is the Republican nominee I would vote for him at this point, “hopey changey” isn’t working for me. I want us gone from the middle east, a plan to balance the budget, I am vehemently opposed to English as a second language (my German speaking mother with immigrant parents had to repeat the 1st grade three times in order to speak and read English for advancement in the very early part of the last century in North Dakota) and an honest debate about race – why are 50% + of convicts black, why are a much higher % of black people on the public dole, why are 70% of black births to single mothers, why are 70% of blacks starting 9th grade not graduating in Minneapolis (pretty much the national average) and while were on that subject, why is Minneapolis getting $20,000 per student and the burbs $6,000, why is virtually every school district surrounding Minneapolis/St. Paul with open enrollment and the resulting disproportionate minority spillover enrollment had disastrous academic results, parents fleeing and veteran teacher burnout, why are virtually all of the 30 murders in Minneapolis this year black folks killed by other black folks, why isn’t the black community outraged at this? When does that dialogue begin? And why if I or anyone else voiced this kind of thing in public would it be considered racist????? I grew up a virtual ward of the state on welfare with no father and these issues are visceral to me but stuffed.
Mr. Tucker’s answer to his White Friend:
The concerns you raise are and have been express my many in my community and have fallen on deaf ears. I personally fault our leadership, from Don, Bobby Jo, RT to name a few. However finger pointing serve no purpose, having spent the better of the last 50 years involved in politics since election in 1960 to present, I feel I speak with some background and or knowledge. First, our leadership have sold us out period. They have come to the table with a mine set that goes something like this; if only the rest of you(meaning other blacks )would get your act together, then and only then would white American respect us and or allow us to participated in the well being of our wonderful country (like blaming the victims on the titanic for buying a ticket). I have stated for years we, that black people, need to take a look at the man in the mirror.
Example, Don (Samuels), our 5th ward alderperson, on the floor on the city council, calls himself a HOUSE NIGGER and has made several statement which I view as negative in reference to Blacks, such as one skin color dictates ones level of intellect (LIGHT skinned blacks are more intelligent than DARK skinned blacks). We have a mayor that have attempted to remove funding for any endeavors that may assist BLACK people with the assistance of Black people. Enough already with the ramblings, the point, my point is, we need our community, the intellectual few, as stated by James Baldwin to provide and or search for solution; not just state the concerns. Further, many Blacks have assimilated and taken on the negative customs of some white Americans that have expressed unfavorable attitudes toward blacks. We call this “Self Hatred” of Blacks by Blacks.
One last bit of information Don our 5th ward alderperson set up a Peace Foundation through a local non-profit, with his wife as the Executive Director, this organization has received several hundred of thousands of dollars with no measurable results. The mayor have brought in a group from Chicago, at additional expense, to attempt to resolve the problems (footnote the proposal that the Chicago group employed in Chicago was written in Minneapolis by Minnesotans) I am calling on you and the broader White community to question and confront the establishment like WE did in the late 1960’s, confront the Mayor and the City Council, this may have greater impact or additional impact in addressing “OUR” concerns. As stated by Bill Clinton “ we will allow negative acts to take place as long as we feel our concerns are being address”
Oh shit, I almost stop without addressing the Schools, many teachers, I would have several years ago limited this statement to White teaches only, however this statement applies to Blacks as well as White teachers, are unfamiliar with the Black culture. This is called Culturally Competence and without such effectiveness is limited or impossible. (Competency is a “Bench Mark” in our industry). Many of the present school board members are no shows at regular meeting of the board and or subcommittee meetings, have not taken the time to familiarize themselves with the issues, couple this with the strength of the “UNIONS“ attempts to even discipline a teacher is met with great force. “Take a look at the number and the dollar amount of personal service contract and outcomes, see Clinton’s statement.”
