The dictionary defines a Glad Handler as an smarmy, hypocritical individual who hugs a lot, gets too close and is generally over friendly in an irritating way. We must keep in mind that R.T. is a politician – one of the worse kinds. The video below shows that longtime residents north Minneapolis must continue to brace for what will be a mass socio-cultural displacement as soon as the Minneapolis Public Schools ESC is complete. This is political glad handing and community content displacement at it’s best – all under the guise of “education?”
Update: The Minneapolis Public Schools legal counsel has obstructed the release of information requested over 20 days ago. They continue to not return phone calls and avoid questions about the involvement of the Ackerberg Group, Catalyst Community Partners and women and minority contracting goals.

Minneapolis, MN (IBNN NEWS/April 25, 2011)…The MPS Educational Service Center groundbreaking and beam signing event was a chance to see an over-effusive speech by Minneapolis mayor R.T. Rybak seemed somewhat hypocritical with the usual song and dance on what will be in north Minneapolis after the new MPS headquarters is complete.
At Tuesday’s groundbreaking and beam-signing in Minneapolis, mayor R. T. Rybak talked his vision for north Minneapolis when the new MPS district headquarters is completed. (Who cares – can’t wait til 2013, Obama ain’t hiring Rybak.)
Rybak’s rhetoric included how great it will be when 1000 people coming to work on West Broadway are able to take part in the local restaurants and walking to Cub Foods for groceries.
This is much like the rhetoric spewed at the grand opening of Aldi’s on Lorwy and Penn Avenues North in 2008 when the mayor said, “Other parts of the city will have to wait. My focus is on north Minneapolis.” It’s evident the only focus on north Minneapolis are those that benefit the city excluding the current residents – especially those of color.
It never ceases to amaze me that the fine citizens of Minneapolis haven’t seen right through this pompous former Star Tribune employee.
My question to R.T. and his DFL political plantation is, “What happens during the construction phase of projects like the new MPS district headquarters? How come no talk of jobs, contract compliance or economic development for the north side?” Could the mayor be overlooking some very important events in an effort to downplay his inability to perform on behalf of a race of people?
The truth hurts , to people like Minneapolis mayor R. T. Rybak and the DFL political plantation hacks truth is never an option.
Let’s help R.T. get the facts straight.
A large majority of the Minneapolis Public Schools employee base and people that work on the north Minneapolis “WesBro” strip don’t live in north Minneapolis and after working hours, spread like coach roaches to other areas of the city and suburbs. If mayor Rybak was truly concerned about building commerce in north Minneapolis, he would have lobbied to make the blighted community a Fair Tax Zone.
The Minneapolis Public Schools is a $700 million dollar organization that is primarily run by White men. Don’t be fooled by Superintendent Johnson’s position, she’s just a buffer between three White males with the ability to not answer questions and move with the own agenda. (More on those folks later.)
