Editors Note: Minneapolis Public Schools has been the culprit in this yearly repeat failure record for Black children. Sup. Johnson’s misguided hiring’s in the last 6 months and bonuses to administrators have shown a benign neglect for the Black student in Minneapolis Public Schools. (By the way, can I get my $3800?) It’s time we ask the Minneapolis Public School Board to shape things up, or ship people out.  Note to the board: Don’t worry about the African American Leadership Forum folks and Chris Stewart; I got them. Minneapolis, MN. (Source: Spark Action/IBNN NEWS/September 28, 2011)…The achievement gap between Minnesota’s white and black students is the largest in the nation among states with high school exit exams, according to a study of those 19 states released Wednesday.

Measured by the percentage of students who pass the high-stakes graduation exams on their first try, researchers at the Center on Education Policy found that Minnesota’s achievement gap on the math test was unmatched.

A total of 78 percent of Minnesota’s white students passed the math portion of the Basic Skills test the first time, compared with 33 percent of black students. On the reading test the gap was smaller but still among the largest in the study, with 87 percent of white students passing compared with 49 percent of black students.
