Minneapolis woman Strangled by boyfriend – No arrests, No charges filed, is it because he’s White and the victim is Black?

This post has already been read 416 times!

“After hearing this story and seeing the photos – it’s obvious that Minneapolis residents live in a two-justice system: One for Whites and another for Blacks. The videos and photos in this story would be enough to at least arrest a Black man in the Twin Cities – but in this case the attacker is free, and he’s a White male.”

The video below was taken by the victim. IBNN CAUTIONS VIEWERS DUE TO EXPLICIT LANGUAGE AND THE NATURE OF THE HATE CRIME IN THIS VIDEO CLIP.

Minneapolis, MN. (IBNN NEWS/Crime & Justice/April 2, 2012)…On March 3, 2012 28-year old African American women Monique Tenison was violently attacked by her 28-year old White boyfriend at the Tower Condominiums in downtown Minneapolis.

Tenison a college student at Minneapolis Community and Technical College told IBNN NEWS that her boyfriend was allegedly intoxicated and started pushing on her and called her a “Stupid Nigger Bitch.” A few seconds later, her boyfriend started to strangle her while shouting “racial insults.” Ms. Tenison was in fear of her life and is cautious of her everyday movements.

“He might send his friends after me. I’m very scared,” says Tenison.

Tenison has contacted the police and the Hennepin County Attorneys office with no success. Tenison’s attacker has filed an Order of Protection against her in an effort to twist the legal system. Witnesses at the attack will not cooperate or return calls law enforcement. (If this was a case of a Black man strangling a woman, in most cases he’d be arrested, charged and a court date set.) To this day, her White attacker remains free on the streets of Minneapolis.

Tenison says, “They claim (County Attorney’s office) that without one of the witnesses backing my story that it’s a bad case and they will not be able to submit it for charges to be filed against my attacker. The investigator also claims that because of the bite mark on the attackers ankle, scratches on his neck and face that it would looks like I attacked him to a jury instead of the defense wounds that I claim them to be in the event of him strangling me.”

Tenison also said, “Even the threats he made to me in the video and him indirectly admitting he strangled me are not enough evidence.”

Currently Ms. Tenison is in fear for her life. She explained to IBNN that if she hadn’t bitten her assailant, she would probably be dead right now. The video shows a cool and calm Tenison video taping her boyfriend and alleged that she had to play it cool in order to stay alive.

This story is a very good example of “tiered justice” – Justice that is one-sided and doesn’t work for people of color in Minnesota.
This attacker must be arrested, evidence gathered and if there is probable cause he should be charged. Just viewing the photos from the hospital and the red-marks around the victim’s neck and arms, probable cause is evident.
