North Minneapolis Murders…and you need $28 million for what?

This post has already been read 422 times!

"$28 million in the wrong hands might just be used for toilet paper.

Riddle me this: “What happens when you have three elected official who were elected to govern over north Minneapolis but are running for other offices?” Answer: Absolutely nothing.

By Donald W.R. Allen, II – Editor in Chief/The Independent Business News Network

North Minneapolis (IBNN/Editorial Opinion/Homicides/June 12, 2012)…Let’s just miss the mark all together. We can continue to have shootings in north Minneapolis – or we can build professional sporting venues – you decide…oops, the politicians took that choice from you. Or maybe, we can get our north Minneapolis elected officials to approve the sale of liquor out of a trailer on Broadway and Penn Avenue’s north.

Whatever the case may be, there’s a dysfunctional set of behavior patterns rising to the surface from not only the youth that shoot to kill – but also the elected official who “supposedly” act in the community’s best interests. The key word here is “act.”

As we roll into another summer – we roll into a series of killings in north Minneapolis, most motivated by relationship issues that haven’t been addressed in over 30-years. Has anyone taken the time out to teach young Black youth about Black History? I think $28 million dollars could make that happen!  Has anyone taken the time to teach the Latino community about the Mexican-American War and the fact that there’s no such thing has an undocumented person in the United States based on historical facts and the bamboozling of a deal that went “real bad?”  Again, I think $28 million is enough to educate – it’s already “legislating.”

At some point the usual suspect will have to stay in their lanes. The environment causes the behavior within north Minneapolis.   Politicians know this, some non-profit agencies have figured this out – but hey, I guess it’s better to work in a silo than actively problem solve.

Taking back the streets in north Minneapolis means taking back $28 million misguided dollars and putting it in a place that we show immediate results – rather than a sense of southern stratification with nothing to under-gird it with.

The challenges of killings in north Minneapolis won’t be solved this year – the elected officials who govern over north Minneapolis are all running for other offices – do you really think they give a damn?

The finish line waits, while north Minneapolis is finished.
