“Your gay? So what, I have a lot of gay friends who didn’t get to make the announcement on CNN.” (photo: Marquee Blog CNN)
“The media’s the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.” — Malcolm X

Washington, DC (IBNN/Political Editorial_Media/July 12, 2012)…Political coverage on television is getting boring. After watching Anderson Cooper’s 360 last night and listening to them attempt to associate GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney to Bain Capital accusing him of shipping off jobs overseas long-after he left the firm is no different than FOX News still looking for President Obama’s birth certificate.
Why does the mainstream media think American’s (and the world) who watch these news networks are total idiots? The fact of the matter is CNN clearly has a liberal agenda; FOX News clearly has a sometimes right-of-the-right agenda. It would be easier if before each newscast a disclaimer is flashed on the screen that read, “We like the Democratic Party of America and support them. If you aren’t a Democrat or liberal, please change the channel now.”
The fun with CNN really began on July 2, 2012 – I could just imagine the pre-production meeting: Anderson Cooper wants to come out as gay.
Let’s ponder this for a moment….
The president now supports gay marriage; we can tie the “gay” thing with one of our top anchors…oh boy, the ratings will go through the roof! We’ll have every GLBT television view tuned into CNN watching their hero Anderson Cooper. So on Monday, July 2nd, CNN’s Anderson Cooper comes out publicly as gay. Television broadcast news doesn’t get any more manipulated than what CNN did with Mr. Cooper.
Now Cooper, who likens himself to some pop cultural icon with a platform says, he’s been reminded, “The tide of history only advances when people make themselves fully visible. There continue to be far too many incidences of bullying of young people, as well as discrimination and violence against people of all ages, based on their sexual orientation, and I believe there is value in making clear where I stand.” (~CNN Marquee Blog, July 2, 2012)
Just to many moving parts for me; bullying, discrimination, violence and sexual orientation…Cooper got his fifteen minutes and went for gold.
While I’m not surprised by CNN’s positioning, it goes to show a different form of news in the mainstream media’s tablet of tricks. It’s all about business, ratings, advertising and money – CNN boondoggles just as good as FOX, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS and the many cable news outlets who are in lockstep with one or the other political party.
Before I close, I would like to settle two issues; One for FOX News and one for CNN.
First of all for Fox News: President Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States of America. Barack Obama’s integrity and moral disposition would not let him deceive the American people. I’m not saying I’m in lockstep with the Democratic Party – I’m just giving you some facts. By the way, there’s no such thing as an illegal immigrant from Mexico based on the events after the Mexican-American War. Anymore airtime dedicated to your networks “private” conspiracy theories will make me (and others) erase your channel from our favorites.
Now to CNN, while you are the “Headline News,” on your channel – it’s important that you have a clear understanding of politics, people and positions. The American public is not dumb – as you seem to think they are. Using the network to make news means to actually get news viewers can use, versus making your own internal-news, like Mr. Cooper’s coming out. This will take some creative thinking, and I know you folks are running out of ideas. So the next time you have a slow news day, put Soledad O’Brien back out on the street and have her to do the real, “Black in America.”
