“Deliver us from this evil.”
After hearing news reports about many children killed in Connecticut, I stopped everything I was doing, left work to go pick up my son and spend the rest of the weekend with him. Its called, the Love of a Father. The president of the United States has ordered flags at half-staff. The 24-year old shooter has a brother who’s life will be changed dramatically after today. What we need is here…

My condolences and prayers for the parents of the children shot dead in a senseless act of violence brought on by a person with a weapon – not the weapon itself. I can’t even begin to imagine the emotions running through the minds of parents who have children in that school without getting very angry, upset and on the verge of an emotional breakdown.
America has to be very clear: there’s a problem when the mainstream media and political pundits use the political sphere to champion their personal agenda’s on gun control without talking about the systemic truth on who it is that shoots children, movie goers and college students.
For example, while the “dark knight movie shooter” sits in jail, America is no more the wiser on the motivations of this person. OF course, now the mainstream media has another shooters profile to re-construct, broadcast and then forget.
Only in America.
Places of learning are supposed to be the safest places in America. This also includes movie theaters, parades and post offices – but America’s white mainstream and it’s troubles have seen to it that no one is safe and anyone could be target. The only common thread for the rash of American mass shootings is that the perpetrators become famous while families bury their babies and love-ones.
We as Americans – all Americans can’t afford to live in a state of protection – in this case meaning we can’t walk around looking over our shoulders. We are already too uncomfortable with people that don’t look like us. One of the things America needs is God. The bible talks about these times of mistrust; division and the move away from values of virtue and benevolence. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
We must join together as men and pray for the fathers, families and community where this tragedy happened.
As I sit here in with my son watching Yo Gabba Gabba, I thank God for having the will to do what’s right.
It’s the love of a father…sometimes that also means the love of God.
