Hi Don, I am a fellow Black Bloggers Connect member and I found this song on youtube. I'm trying to push it in order to bring attention to loss of young Black lives. I read your piece earlier about how folks in your local were able to protest about Trayvon but not the stuff at their back door, well this is a call for us to make this not only about Trayvon but all of the young Black people in need of our attention. I'm not selling the song. I don't know the author but I do recognize the potential and the timing feels right for us to try to take this somewhere. Give it a listen and follow your heart.
yours,

18 Tribute to Trayvon and All Black Youth Whose Lives are in Peril
This song is something that should have been out there already, alas, if Trayvon hadn't been taken from us so suddenly that evening in Florida we might not be listening to it today. As you listen don't think only of Trayvon Martin, take the time to reflect on the thousands of other young Black men, women and children that we lose to gun violence in the hood every year. "18" is just the song we need to to be an Anthem to remind us of the young lives lost daily in our American communities throughout the country. I'm positive that Trayvon's family and friends would like to see this become bigger than the loss of their loved one, especially if in his honor we can bring ourselves to unite in a way like never before, to create a safe and nourturing environment for our youg people.

see if the same standard was applied to L. Higgins. Linda is also a City of Minneapolis employee and if she was allowed to take an unpaid leave of absence then something is wrong. I went through the same crap only worse over at the county. I had more issues at play than Blong does but if they treated Linda or Peter Wagenius (who recently ran in a special election for State Senator over NE) in any shape or form different than they are treated

Oh boy do I have a story for you. Two years ago, I was attacked by police officers and citizens in the park. All while I was trying to protect and help a small child. I could not use the 911 service. I was beat down when I did. Taken to the police station where I was hurt some more. A paramedic was called in to help me because I was having chest pains and shortness of breath. The paramedic proceeded to stab me in the arm and kick me in the head. The public defender refused to defend me. Only tried to prove my guilt instead of my innocence can you interview me or is this story to unbelievable. We will be homeless at the end of the month because of this story. We were thrown out of our home before I was convicted guilty before proven innocent. My public defender, coerced me into accepting a plea Alford plea bargain. If I had took heard advice. I would be in jail right now. But I didn't and I'm not!!! Can you help me get my constitutional rights and eighth amendment rights upheld? My name is David Slaughter I am trying to protect a small child, whose rights were also violated. I am a citizen of the United States of America, and I could not use the 911 service for a child or myself can you help us get rights in this country? 952-583-5528 is my home number. Please call. Please help. Thank you.
